UKTV is co-producing new series of Primeval and Murdoch Mysteries.
The multichannel broadcaster is dipping its toe in the water with the original drama commissions, but is sticking with established shows; the channel had co-funded the previous series of Murdoch Mysteries, and Primeval was a success on ITV before being cancelled (likely due to the costs of producing the CGI-heavy series).
The third series of Murdoch Mysteries will air on UKTV's crime channel Alibi in February 2010; Primeval season four will premiere on ITV1 in early 2011, with UKTV channel Watch bagging the premiere rights for the fifth season later in the year.
