The US shut down all analogue TV signals early Saturday morning as the country turned to digital TV.
However, despite all of the advertising, warnings and in some cases letters and visits to householders, it is estimated that there could be around three million US homes without TV.
The digital switchover US style has been slightly different to how the plan in the UK is being operated, because there has not been a phasing in of the new technology, the switchover was done all at once instead.
Initially this was due to take place in February, but following several delays, the switchover took place over the weekend.
Satellite and cable TV are already very popular in the US, but despite a long campaign it seems that many of the poor and elderly viewers have not made any attempt to upgrade.
