An American man fatally shot his wife while trying to install a satellite dish over the Easter weekend.
The Missouri resident resorted to gunfire when he became frustrated trying to drill a cable run from the outside of his home.
NBC Action News reports that he told police he had no idea his wife was standing in the line of fire. Apparently, neither did she.
Ronald Long, 39, and wife Patsy, were trying to install a satellite dish on Saturday night. After the usual drilling method failed, Ronald grabbed a .22 calibre handgun to finish the job, believing his wife to be safely inside the house.
"He tried a few things. After repeated attempts to get the hole through the wall, in sort of a desperate measure he shot outside through the wall and hit his wife in the chest," said Henry County Sheriff Department spokesperson, Major Robert Hills.
Prosecutors have yet to decide whether Long should face charges over the incident.
