Freeview sales reached a record high in 2007 up 64 per cent on the previous year.
According to data from GfK, 9.7 million Freeview compatible TVs and receivers were sold in the year, 3.8 million of them over the Christmas period.
5 million of these were IDTVs and 4.3 million were adapters. An estimated 400,000 PVRs were sold, of which 209,000 were Freeview Playback certified.
General Manager of Freeview Ilse Howling said: 'More than half the homes in the country now have Freeview and the value of Freeview Playback is set to grow further for these homes and millions of others with additional sets to convert.'
