Questions about: TELEVES 112101 13 Element Wide Band Digital Aerial
Question:
can you please tell me what make of aerial i can use to install in my loft for digital tv
Response
Any TV aerial is capable of receiving digital but you often find that you require a higher gain aerial then needed for analogue. Not all areas of the United Kingdom can receive digital reception as yet. To ascertain whether or not digital reception is available in your area check the predicted coverage for your postcode. The type of aerial you require is dependant upon the strength of signal, amongst other things. No-one could tell with 100% accuracy without visiting your home and testing the existing installation, but the post-code predictions, coupled with local knowledge, should give a strong indication.
One of the most common problems people have with Freeview reception relates to the use of "loft" aerials.
Because the analogue TV transmitter network uses very high power transmissions (the total ERP for the UK is 64 megawatts) many people have installed their TV aerial in places such as lofts, or have used other Indoor Aerials.
Roof tiles and walls effect analogue TV signals, degrading the picture lightly. Making the signal slightly weaker will add a `snow` element to the picture which is mildly irritating. The picture quality drops. Wherever possible you should use a rooftop aerial.
My advice would be to get a free quotation from a local CAI approved technician (Confederation of Aerial Industries)
