Question: can you use the remote if box is in cuboard under tv

Remote controls will function fine as long as the infra-red receiver is in line of sight of your remote control. Any unit in a cupboard will still need to "see" the remote. Glass-fronts or mesh will allow the signal to apss, but more solid frontages may cause problems.
