Questions about: Pace DS810XE High Definition Satellite Receiver
Question:
I'm looking for a box that will let me watch high definition telly without the need for a satellite dish. Will the Pace DS810XE do that? I don't have much technical knowledge. I have a hd telly with built in freeview but quality and quantity of channels are limited. I'm looking for somehting which will improve the quality of my viewing and the number of channels I watch. Is this the item for me?

The Pace box will do exactly what you want from a digital receiver. However, if you don`t want a dish the choice of channels is currently quite limited, and only available via cable. - it`s not possible to get High-definition content via a TV aerial yet. When (and if) HD content is made available via Freeview, it`s likely that if your aerial is good enough to get Freeview, it`ll be fine with Freeview High Definition content, although I should point out that I am currently unaware of any firm plans to broadcast HD over Freeview.

With the correct dish, yes it will. By correct dish, I mean anything in excess of 60cm really.

with sky would i be able to just pay the £10 hd subscription and get hd channels with this box their charges are so unreasonable to current subscribers
Response
Sky HD is a subscription service and as such their HD output is only available to those who subscribe to it. This box would receive any non-subscription HD tranmsission however.

The Pace DS810XE High Definition Satellite Receiver comes with one CI slot. It comes with a full user guide.

This receiver is suitable for Freeview only. Freesat is a seperate service that requires a specialist box and dish.

This unit is not equipped to receive FreeSat transmissions. if you wish to receive FreeSat, you will need to purchase a designated FreeSat box, which will then simply plug in and play using your existing satellite installation.
If you are looking to install the whole system from scratch yourself, I recommend getting in contact with a local technician who will be able to give more precise advise directly relevant to your precise location.
