This publication has several objectives

• To act as an introduction for newcomers to the industry and members of the public who wish to know more about the reception and distribution of electromagnetic signals.


• To provide atechnical reference source for installers working in the industry.


• To provide furthe rinformation for course students

It is not necessary to have a knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits in order to benefit from reading this book. Many of the concepts and conveyed by means of some 300 drawings and photographs and the maths has been kept to an absolute minimum.

The Confederation of Aerial Industries Ltd (CAI) is the recognised body for the aerial and satellite industry in the UK and is committed to raising standards within the industry. Its members include installation companies, manufacturers and broadcasters (and DAS of course!!)



The CAI organises technical training courses on all aspects of radio, TV and satellite reception and distribution as part of a structured training programme, and is establishing National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ's) for the industry.
